on November 28, 2012  →The Master’s Home In Lukang   (Recorded by Yu-hsien Hou)

On Thursday, November 28, we interviewed the master during the elective class period. We were well prepared for the interview. Upon arriving, the master showed us her works; for the valuable ones, we were only allowed to see the pictures on her website. Then we started the interview with many questions about the Spring Flower; her love for the art and her hope for passing on the art showed in her words.

After practices, our works were getting prettier. The master gave us a Spring Flower each at the end as gift. She wished us a successful website. We have learned a lot in the interview. We realized the Spring Flower is an important handcraft art and hope more people will learn it.

on December 8, 2012→Visiting Chiayi   (Recorded by Yan-bo Huang)

Today we made a trip to the teacher’s exhibition of Spring Flowers held in Chiayi Cultural and Creative Industries Park. The teacher gave us a warm greeting. In the beginning, I was wondering what kind of place the Chiayi Cultural and Creative Industries Park was. After researching, I learned it used to be a wine factory.

The Council for Cultural Affairs has appointed it as one of the five cultural parks and positioned it as the Chiayi Traditional Arts Innovation Center. Between November 4th and 9th, the “Southern Viewpoint: Chiayi Craftsmanship”, a parent-child art festival, was held here to promote the beautiful local arts and culture. Combining with interesting and creative ideas, the local arts and culture industry will be encouraged. I am glad for the opportunity to learn from the teacher. I saw many people in various ages, from children to grandmothers, who are learning the previously unpopular art. Isn’t it what it means by “it is never to late to learn?”

on December 15, 2012→Xi-Zhou Experience  (Recorded by Chih-yu Yang)

We went to the Xi-Zhou Agriculture Association to participate in the Spring Flower class today. When arriving, we looked for our seats and sat down right away. While working with the materials, we started to encounter problems, but the students there helped us enthusiastically.     There were many fabulous works done by the students.

We knew how hardworking the students were. In the visit, we learned that new ideas have been added to the traditional handcraft art. Time flew by, and soon the class was over. I hoped we could return to learn the Spring Flower art again.

on December 13, 2012 →The Interview with the Mayor (Recorded by Yi-shan Kuo、Yen-ting Shih)

We went to interview the mayor. The director took us to the township hall. We set up the camera while waiting on the second floor. When the mayor arrived, we greeted him politely and he greeted us amiably. It’s our first time meeting with the mayor. We were a bit nervous.

We started the questions. First of all, we asked whether he had seen the Spring Flower and what his impression was with it. The mayor said he had seen his grandmother wearing it and she looked pretty with it. The mayor also said he had held many activities for making Lukang a visible city and he hoped that Lukang would become a city with great culture. After the interview, we all took pictures together with the mayor. He wished for us to perform well for the Cyberfair project.

on December 27, 2012 →The Interview with Chien-Hua Huang (Recorded by Yu-cheng Nian、Yu-fang Huang)

She said she played many instruments, such as the lute, guitar, erhu, etc. Her mom made her learn them, for she liked the sound of the lute. It took time and practice, so she couldn’t spend much time on academic work. However, she paid attention during class and reviewed during break.

Through the interview with Chien-hua, we’ve learned something: we cannot avoid encountering difficulties, but we can walk over them and earn good results. Without practices, one cannot achieve the goal, even with talents. We thank Chien-hua for her sharing. It’s my honor to hear her perform. I hope to hear it again.
