After our visit to Master Shih's workshop, everyone brought back his/her favorite works. It happened that we had an art class, so we sat down and started to sketch our own works and asked Teacher Tsung-li Lin to correct. Our works are introduced as follows:

     I like "A Girl's Dream". The girl wants to dance with the people she likes. Her thought is presented in her smile in a pure and unhidden manner. Audience also shares her joy.

     I like this statue of the Earth God. When I was a child, my grandmother used to take me to worship the Temple of the Earth God. She said that the Earth God was efficacious. If I prayed sincerely, the God would bless me to grow safely and realize my wishes.

     I like watching statues of Buddha at Longshan Temple since I was a child, so I also like this statue. It is solemn and kind and gives me a lot of strength.

     I like the posture of "Rabbit & Moon". There is carrot in front of the rabbit, but the rabbit gave up his favorite food and looked up while standing on his toes. Two rabbit buddies are behind him to help him get closer to the moon. The rabbit is ready to embrace the moon with stretching hands…

     I like the posture of "Tiger". It is very special and different from average tigers. The tiger is leaping, which stands for its solemnity and power. It bites a bronze dollar, which stands for its function of avoidance of evil spirits and brings about fortune. That is what people are expecting for their lives.

     I was close to my grandmother since I was a child. While seeing this statue, I remember my grandmother. Master Shih said that the grandmother in the statue was doing things common in the past. Her small grandson is sitting beside her. The statue presents profound love between the grandmother and the grandson.

    I lived near a fish market. When I was young, I saw adults start their work before dawn. They began to put fish in one basket after another. The drawing makes me recall the scene. The aquatic creatures carved by Master Shih are lifelike. I also want to draw some.

     I like the two lively and cute mice in "Concept". Teacher Lin said that the two mice were snatching gold ingots due to financial turmoil. We shall reflect the use of money and the meaning of life.

     I like "A carp jumps the dragon gate". A carp needs to break all kinds of environmental constraints, overcome various difficulties, and strive to swimming against torrent so as to jump the dragon gate to become a dragon and receive a tremendous boost in its prestige. I want to facsimile the statue to encourage myself.

     I think "Generations" is very interesting. Sweet potatoes, taros, and bamboos are common plants. They grow rapidly with great vitality. But I never think of them together. I want draw them to appreciate.
